Natural Impacts
Lots of different events can affect ecosystems. There are natural impacts as well as human impacts. Although natural impacts can damage ecosystems, they can also help ecosystems become better.
Bushfires
Bushfires, can damage ecosystems, by burning or killing off the natural plantation in woodlands, grasslands and forests. However, they can also help ecosystems. After a fire occurs, plants regenerate through germination. Most plants are now able to resist and survive fires and even benefit from them. Floods A flood is when there is excessive amounts of water, covering land that is usually not covered by water. Big, heavy rainfall, can cause rivers in overflow, and cause widespread flooding. It can kill off animals, if they are exposed to it, or by drowning. Plants can also die from lack of oxygen at the roots. |
Droughts As drought means a time of period where there is no rainfall in an area, it can cause death, and make some species extinct, depending upon the length of the drought. |
